“I am that I am” spoke to Moses an ordinary man, a sinner. Hesham (the Name) was so far above our category it was death to look upon him. Yet Moses was used by God  for he chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise… the weak things of the world to shame the strong…the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

"I Am that I Am" spoke to and worked through Moses, a shepherd, a sinner, an ordinary man. YHWH (Lord) was so Holy, so beyond our category that Moses could not look upon him or he would die. The same God that told Mose's he would be with him speaks to us today in the mundane and ordinary difficulties of our lives. God's calling is a reminder that he uses..…what is foolish in the world to shame the wise… what is weak in the world to shame the strong… what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29

Psalm 14

We see from this lament that the reality is no person acts justly-there is universal sinfulness. We live in an ugly world. Right now we are experiencing a world filled with sickness (Covid -19 and other disease), dishonesty, strife, theft, gossiping, bitterness and selfishness and the list goes on. Just as Israel was forgiven by God and then went on to Sin against him so have we here in America and around the world. But just as Sin is universal so is God's grace and mercy. Repent of your thinking and behavior, confess your sins and pray, for our God is mercyful and forgiving. For the director of music. Of David. 1 The fool[a] says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their dee

No Christian the World is Not Flat!

We find ourselves living in a world where truth is in short supply or truth is what you imagine or make up. The statement if its on the internet it must be true takes on real meaning now in our present age. So I will begin with a last research from the website YouGov concerning a survey compiled by data journalist Hoang Nguyen. Participants were asked, “Do you believe that the world is round?” Of those asked 84 percent said they believed the basic scientific fact, but, five percent said, “I always thought the world is round, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts.” Skepticism about the Earth’s shape goes up dramatically among millennials: seven percent of 25- to 34-year-olds are skepti

Psalm 13

David is exhausted physically and mentally. He is depressed and despairs! Is this you? The seasons of our lives present this to us. We fell as if God is no where to be found. The patterns of our life with a broken will in a Fallen world leads us from dark to light. David knows God will deliver him and his people. Today as you and I look back over History (and our lives) and with the benefit of the Holy Scripture and the Resurrection of our Lord Christ Jesus and the Person of the Holy Spirit we should find solace and peace in that steadfast love! For the director of music. A psalm of David. 1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long mus

Mr. Overton

From Rocky Conley Meet Mr. Richard Overton. Mr. Overton was in his 30s when he volunteered for the Army and was at Pearl Harbor just after the Japanese attack in 1941. He served in the all-black 1887th Engineer Aviation Battalion in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Overton met President Obama at the White House in 2013, and the president honored him at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. “He was there at Pearl Harbor, when the battleships were still smoldering,” Mr. Obama said of Mr. Overton. “He was there at Okinawa. He was there at Iwo Jima, where he said, ‘I only got out of there by the grace of God.’ ” He credited God for living so long but said he didn't take any medicine an

Psalm 12

This is a community lament when God's people are under the authority of liars in their leadership. Dishonesty is painful, it hurts not only the liar but the people. God says because the needy groan I will arise. God rescues us, first through Christ then through people and circumstance. God will not rescue us on our terms but his when the time is right. For the director of music. According to sheminith. A psalm of David. 1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. 2 Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts. 3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue—

Psalm 11

This Psalm reminds us that as followers of Christ we will experience many trials in life. But we are not on our own 'God is in his Holy Temple" which means he is looking down and is watching what is happening to you. He is providentially at work in your life and circumstances around you to bring good into the world. When he promises the upright will see his face God means that if you have a basic trust in God you will one day see his face! Be encouraged! For the director of music. Of David. 1 In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain. 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows

Sin is Not OK! – Let Your Light Shine!

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). We live, once again in a time where evil is good and good is evil. It has always been so, but now it is announced and celebrated! We see it in our politics, and we see it in the culture around us. Humanity has been here before and it never bodes well. Paul said this about our Sin: “I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.… I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do” (Rom 7:14–15,

Pray for Our President

Whether you voted for him or not, Donald Trump deserves your prayers. Your Christ-likeness is being tested right now. Are you harboring ill will toward the President and his cabinet? Satan divides us many ways. Do not become like the world. Pray that Donald Trump would be given wisdom/knowledge. “Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?” (2 Chronicles 1:1). His health and safety. “So that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons” (Ezra 6:10). That Donald Trump will uphold a standard of righteousness. “For the one in authority is God’s servant for your g

Psalm 10

We find in Psalm 10 a new tone. David is distraught at the victimization of the helpless at the hands of his fellow citizens. People of God should be kind and humble yet they are often not. David in verse 14 that the Lord will do justice and one day right all wrongs. Christ is the ultimate evidence of Gods love for us. We are called to fight the injustices of this world because our sin has been wiped away. 1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? 2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. 3 He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. 4 In his pride the w

If I Were the Devil - Paul Harvey

From Port Film Co- Op Broadcaster Paul Harvey outlines in 1965 what he would do if he were the devil .. Interesting to compare this nightmarish vision to today. "If I Were the Devil" was broadcast by Paul Harvey in 1965. How many of you remember Paul Harvey and his program "The Rest of the Story." "The Rest of the Story was a Monday-through-Friday radio program originally hosted by Paul Harvey.[1] Beginning as a part of his newscasts during the Second World War and then premiering as its own series on the ABC Radio Networks on May 10, 1976, The Rest of the Story consisted of stories presented as little-known or forgotten facts on a variety of subjects with some key element of the story (usua

Psalm 9

There is strife and tumult in David's world as there is in ours today. God is never caught off guard or by surprise. He reigns over this chaos with complete knowledge and providential control. Although God will often deliver us in times of adversity our greatest need is his mercy, which is gifted to us through Christ! Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Righteous Judgments To the Chief Musician. To the tune of [a]“Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David. 9 I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. 3 When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your pres

The Voice of God – The Shofar

This video is from I24news Have you ever heard a Shofar? Listen to this video by one who considered one of the best Shofar blowers in the world and hear his story. The Shofar is an ancient musical horn usually made of a ram's horn, used for Jewish religious purposes. The shofar lacks pitch-altering devices so all pitch control is done by varying the player's breathing. Shofars come in a variety of sizes and shapes, depending on the choice of animal and type of finish. The Shofar is mentioned frequently in the Hebrew Bible, the Talmud and rabbinic literature. The first reference is in Exodus 19, the blast of a shofar coming from the thick cloud on Mount Sinai makes the Israelites tremble in

Cinema as Sermons – The Prisoner (Are We in the Village?)

Video from Dr. Droidable I was born in 1956. I grew up with a Black & White TV and had an outdoor antenna that needed to be manually turned to get reception for any of the 3 TV stations we had access to. I remember when Star Trek first debuted, Man form Uncle, I Dream of Jennie, you get the picture. One of those TV shows was The Prisoner. I was 11 years old when it was on tv. “The Prisoner is a 1967 British science fiction television series about an unnamed British intelligence agent who is abducted and imprisoned in a mysterious coastal village, where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job.[2] It was created by Patrick McGoohan and George Markstein with McGoohan p

Psalm 8

In Psalm 8 we find David praising God for all of the remarkable things he has placed us in charge of. In our post-modern world we have been conditioned to think everything has a natural cause. Even Christians have fallen into this trap. When we substitute the term Mother Nature we are actually denying the Persons of the Trinity and using a pagan name. You and I along with all of God's children have be entrusted with many things. Many of us have become foes and enemies of God, yet God still designates us as stewards of his creation. We need a savior because of our personal sin. In Hebrews 2:6-8 we see that Christ our Savior is the perfect representation of humanity found in this Psalm. For th
