"Courage in Artistry": Heidi White

"For artists living and creating in a season of global crisis, courage is more relevant — and more necessary — than ever. But what does it mean to be courageous artists in this generation? In this talk, Heidi White will trace the Christian understanding of the virtue of courage through classical and medieval tradition and reflect on what that offers to artists in this cultural moment. Heidi White, M.A., is a teacher, editor, podcaster, and author. She teaches Humanities at St. Hild School in Colorado Springs. She is the Managing Editor of FORMA Journal and a contributing author, speaker, and consultant at the Circe Institute. She is a weekly contributor on fiction, poetry, and Shakespeare on the Close Reads Podcast Network. You may have heard her on the Anselm Imagination Redeemed Podcast. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Anselm Society as well as sitting on the Academic Advisory Board for the Classical Learning Test. She writes fiction, poetry, and essays, and she speaks about literature, education, and the Christian imagination. She lives in Black Forest, Colorado with her husband and children. *** The Anselm Society's mission is a renaissance of the Christian imagination. We help churches re-learn how to disciple and work alongside artists. Artists to re-learn how to be a part of the church, integrating excellence of both craft and faith. And everyone else to burn with a desire to see the Kingdom with the same enchanted eyes with which they see Narnia and Middle Earth." from video introduction.
