"Domenico Morelli was one of the most influential painters of Italian art of the 19th century. He hails from Naples and as a youth struggled his way to the top through hard work and raw talent. He was a very popular teacher and founded the Art Society in Naples to assist in the recognition of the area for the arts. His style matured over the years and his new approach was lauded by France and the northern countries. He was also recognized as a patriot for helping in the Naples uprising of 1848, wounded he became a hero." from video
