103 Year Old Man Gives His Last Piece Of Advice!
Myron Fuller Steves, Sr., founder of the Texas-based managing general agency and wholesale insurance broker, Myron F. Steves & Co., passed away on Aug. 29, 2015, at the age of 103, but not without leaving one final message.
"His advice? “Stop looking for advice. Go out and do something. And stick to it, come hell or high water.”
And stick to it, he did.
That Myron Steves was a “doer” has never been in doubt by those who knew him, loved him and conducted business with him. His life was all about risk — taking risks and helping his clients manage them.
Myron F. Steves Sr.
At the age of 100, Myron Steves was still doing — swimming most mornings (a practice he started in 1958) and doing pilates twice a week, among other things." from the article:
The work ethic in America has taken a beating on many different fronts. When I was growing up my work ethic was a profound part of my up bringing. Today in many families it is less so. There are many reasons and the break down of American families is not the least of them. Children without good fatherly examples miss out on not only the work ethic but the love a father can bring. Lack of Father's in homes, of course is not the only cause.
So moving beyond the causes which are mostly out of our control as individuals we can focus on Christ. This will allow us to work for Him and not for man.
1 Thessalonians 3:6-12 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. . . . Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
Paul does not give laziness a free pass. Laziness is profoundly unchristian. The gospel does not demand our activity initially but always produces activity in and through us. Laziness dishonors the power and strength that has come to dwell in us in Christ and through the person of the Holy Spirit.
You have heard before, don't waste your life. If you realize you have been slacking or lazy then get busy, make a change and as Myron Steve's said: “Stop looking for advice. Go out and do something. And stick to it, come hell or high water.”
Colossians 1:29 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
