Being Grateful

"What does it mean to be grateful? It certainly doesn’t mean convincing yourself of some bogus notion that everything is fine and dandy. Because we all experience struggles, loss and pain - that is part of life. So it isn’t about blocking out these difficulties. Instead, it is about approaching the tough times from a different perspective. We can choose to focus our time and attention on what we appreciate. And when we begin to turn toward the things that we cherish, the world opens to reveal that there is always some small thing for which we can be grateful. It soothes our minds, and takes root in our hearts, by connecting us with the wonderfully ordinary things, great and small, that we might otherwise take for granted. “We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” ~Cynthia Ozick Filmed in Namaqualand, South Africa. Featuring Gert and Bettie." from video introduction.

Do we in America really know how to be grateful?

Have we taken everything for granted for so long we think this is normal or worse yet we are owed what we have in abundance?

Right now there seems to be very little gratitude on the part of American's or American Christians.

What do you have to be grateful for?
