Should Christians Give Any Credibility to Conspiracies or Conspiracy Theories?

Christians & Conspiracy Theories

Christians Are Not Bound to the Things of This World

Isaiah 8:12-13

12 "Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. 13 The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.

Christians are not immune from being fooled into believing lies and misinformation. In fact our sin nature and willful rebellion often lead to us believing what the world around us believe.

We cannot claim we are faithful to the Lord if we are willing to buy into fear and fantasy as explanations for the worlds problems. Conspiracy Theories provide explanations for many things that are happening in our world. Yet if they are not filtered through God's truth and Holy Word we risk sin and maybe even ruin.

To be obsessed with "conspiracies" is to be in denial of God's providence and soverignty.

Can conspiracies be true? Sure many are but knowing if one is true or not does not rule our reality, Christ does.

What is a Conspiracy Theory?

"A conspiracy theory is, “a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators.” A theory is an unproven idea that can be plausible, depending on the weight of the evidence.

Rather than gullibility, as some are alleging, there are a number of possible reasons why many Christians are inclined to believe in conspiracy theories. First of all, the Bible teaches that Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) and his strategies are cloaked in secrecy. Also, humans are born in sin and capable of incredible evil (Matthew 15:19).

Further, anyone interested in history is aware that numerous conspiracies have been carried out. Christians also try to remain alert to any evidence of abuse or oppression since horrendous secret crimes have occurred right in the middle of neighborhoods.." from the article: How Should Christians Respond to Conspiracy Theories?

The following video from Richard Dolan is very well done and makes the case for actual conspiracies in history both old and current. Yet this is not done with or from a Christian Worldview. Regardless of how true a conspiracy is we as Christians must look to our Lord and not men, their wisdom or opinions.

"You're not supposed to believe in "conspiracy theories," despite the fact that conspiracies and shenanigans by the powerful are all around us, especially now that we are living through a top-down directed global revolution against ordinary people. A revolution designed to strip away our rights -- rights that we must protect.

Richard Dolan is one of the world’s leading researchers and writers on the subject of UFOs and believes that they constitute the greatest mystery of our time. He is the author of two volumes of history, UFOs and the National Security State, both ground-breaking works which together provide the most factually complete and accessible narrative of the UFO subject available anywhere. He also co-authored a speculative book about the future, A.D. After Disclosure, the first-ever analysis not only of how UFO secrecy might end but of the all-important question: what happens next?" from video introduction.
