The Foundation of Christlikeness is in Admitting Our Hearts are Wicked and Depraved
Romans 3:10-18
10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”[a] 13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”[b] “The poison of vipers is on their lips.”[c] 14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”[d] 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know.”[e] 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[f]
American Christians Have Made Their Faith an Activity
You and I are inadequate. We want to do good but will easily sin and do bad.
In a nation with a people who are in general living ever deeper in sin day by day we cannot save ourselves or our nation by will power, social science or political party.
All of us are in serious spiritual trouble. We again in general are in denial of our own sin and rebellion and the decay in our culture.
We as a people no longer "fear" God, we think ourselves too sophisticated and advanced for that.
Proverbs 9:10
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
All of us, believers and non- believers alike are residents of God's kingdom. He is to be feared. God has plainly put before us what we must do to be with him in eternity and to be active along with him in his Kingdom. Yet we willfully resist.
How self-aware are you of your soul and your spiritual formation? What are your sins and do you confess them to God?
None of these realities can be put off or ignored.
Christlikeness requires engagement with your Lord and a manifest awareness of the person of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Using your local church as a gas station for a weekly fill up is not only inadequate but foolish. It can never be enough! You must develop a relationship with Christ each day no matter what.
Most Christians reading this do not care or have given up on their faith. This is death and eternal damnation.
Americas Helter-Skelter Culture
Charles Mansion cultivated his followers to be confused and weak. Nothing made sense, the only right and wrong was what Manson dictated. Reality was he declared it to be. Therefore when they murdered someone it really did not happen. So we find ourselves in our culture today in which politicians declare what reality is and what right and wrong are. Sadly most of our population is sinful and gullible enough to follow.
This evil and warped worldview allows people to justify whatever they want to do or say.
Truth in a practical sense has for the most part left America and the world in general.
To do good reality must be acknowledged and we must act accordingly.
Today as our society comes unmoored from Christianity and common sense nothing makes sense. Therefor any port inn the storm that conforms to our twisted desires becomes our new truth.
Church in Free Fall
American Church, meaning the Body of Christ which is you and I have allowed the gathering of the saints to become a weekly activity among many. It has no real significance to most. Most Christians are biblically illiterate and show no signs of seeking Christ through his Holy Word. For the Body of Christ to be the Body we must make Christ and the gathering of the Saints the focus of our lives.
Will we do it?
We must start in our personal relationship with Christ and make prayer a focal point of our lives. We must confess and repent. There is no quick and easy way.
Put aside the things of this world and commit your life to Christ!!
