Your Opinion is Not Your Truth
“Why do you not understand what I say? Is it because you cannot bear to hear My Word? You are of your father, the Devil, and your will is to do the father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and he is the father of lies.” John 8:43
In our age of moral relativism many people chose the easy way out and fall back on their opinion as truth. It has become a natural reflex with the dominance of social media and expressive individualism. Even many Christians succumb to this lie.
Their world, the flesh and the devil have convinced many that their opinion is entitled!
So we listen to others opinions, perhaps a pastor or some politician we believe is telling the truth (without actually knowing) and go from there. We have all done it.
My truth is just a clever way of saying my opinion. And our opinion is almost guaranteed to be dysfunctional and foolish.
Truth is not a personal preference or opinion, it never has been.
When we fall into that trap we are choosing the lies of the Ruler of this World - Satan - and not the truth of Christ.
Christ is the TRUTH, nothing else or no one else, even our opinion is not superior over our Lord!
Who are you listening too? Whose opinion is taking precedence over your Lords opinion?
If we intentionally walk with Christ everyday, have an actual personal relationship in which we humble ourselves, confess our sins, repent of them and carry on a conversation with Christ the Person of the Holy Spirit is free to influence and convict us. This keeps us away from the "lies of our age."
We can be foolish and follow others over the cliff or we can go the narrow way with our Lord.
