Why this Blog?

Why this Blog?

I am a Christian.

My Lord Christ Jesus asks that all Christians act as a Light on the Hill, Salt of the Earth.

God gives us all gifts to use to that end. Or we may choose to use our life and gifts for evil and sin.

So, at age 64 as I go into the last quarter of my life in retirement. I put aside my past endeavors in life to focus now on what can I do to serve Jesus and the people and world around me.

The wisdom I have learned through my own rebellious will (School of Hard Knocks) has been refined in me by the person of the Holy Spirit and Christ Jesus.

Apart from them I am a sinner and lost in the fatal intoxication of this life.

Paul stated “I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.… I can what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do” (Rom 7:14–15, 19).

This is me and you!

Our wills are broken.

Paul goes on to say: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:23-26

Paul was so eager to preach the gospel to believers and I also want YOU to know Christ and to thrive day-by-day on the meat of the gospel — so it becomes a day-by-day, hour-by-hour instrument of God’s power in our lives to save us — then our witness to family, friends and strangers will not be some religious mantra but the very heartbeat of the way we think, feel and fight the fight of faith and love every day.

How then are you saved and come to know Jesus?

Salvation requires you to believe in God, in Jesus, that is all, instead of working for this salvation, Christ has already done what needs to be done by death on the cross. We receive it. “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).

There are no hoops to jump through, you do not have to turn east and pray, no works, nothing you can do matters.

Right now, aloud, or silently say Father God I am a sinner, my heart is wicked and depraved, I commit my life to you. Speak to him, he is a person, tell him your sins and he will forgive you.

1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The Gospel is the good news about Jesus Christ. “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them...” (2 Corinthians 5:19). God, fully knowing that man would fall, provided a means of reconciliation for man; He knew that there was nothing that a man could do to make mankind acceptable to God.

So, Part of my ministry is to proclaim the Gospel wherever I can (on this blog). I am proclaiming the Gospel and celebrating the diversity of humanity and the glory of nature and the heavens.

I also present opposing opinions to what I think and what the mainstream thinks. This is at the heart of objective discussion. In a world and a culture that is losing a sense of meaning we must resist the voice that yells the loudest and seek to listen to each other with compassion and empathy.

Our opinions never have and never will constitute the TRUTH. We as humans can only get the truth from Christ. Our pathetic attempts to dominate, as we can see only result in chaos.

So put on your thinking cap, put aside your bias and consider the wonders of this world our Lord has made!!

Yours in Christ
