Cinema & the Arts as Sermons: Kung Fu: Master Po on One's Purpose in Life

Video from Grasshopper

"This clip from the 1970's TV series "Kung Fu" is from the episode called "The Vanishing Image" in Series 3. Keye Luke as Master Po, Radames Pera as young Caine and Benson Fong as Li Yu." from video introduction.

Master Po: "Have we a good collection this month? Li Yu: "Yes a fine one master already I have found two pieces of rare beauty. I am most grateful."

Master Po: "We are grateful to you for rewarding our carelessness." Master Po: "Grasshopper! Will you walk with me?" Grasshopper: "Yes Master. The last man to whom you spoke, is he confused?"

Master Po: "What is your view?"

Grasshopper: "He is, like the rest I can see he is greatly in need of food but he does not eat."

Master Po: "He seeks to satisfy a stronger hunger. He values what is worthless to you to me perhaps not worthless to him, bits and pieces they can not be put back together. Not to understand a man's purpose does not make him confused."

In God's Providence and Sovereign rule we all are serving some purpose in life at different times in different circumstances. We should always be mindful that just because we do not see the good or the purpose in someone else's life or their actions does not mean God is not at work.
