Do You Believe the Gospel? (How Our Secular Culture is Making Christians Unbelievers)

Do you know what The Gospel is?


The Gospel holds much of the whole Bible together. The Gospel takes Christians from being lost, from condemnation/ alienation from God to and through conversion/discipleship to the consummation (goal or end) to our resurrection bodies and to a New heaven and a New earth.

The Kingdom of God arrived in Jesus, but the people of that time were blind and uninterested just as we tend to be today.

Luke 12:54–56: "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does. 55And when the south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is. 56Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?”

As Christians have we stopped long enough to interpret the times?

In the past wise cultures understood that plagues/pandemics was God working in History. Are we rightly interpreting the times today? Are we in prayer asking God for wisdom, patience, and perseverance?

All of us need to stop filling our lives with inconsequential and meaningless activities. Life and death hangs in the balance.

Stop your fantasy football, or your Tweets, your golf or tracking the presidential race long enough to notice the Glory of God in the world and in the people, God has placed before you.

Every day, every morning God’s glory is right before our eyes in creation. You and I have a limited amount of time to impact the souls of those around us, our families, our friends, strangers.

The Gospel "good news" is that it connects you and I with the "unsearchable riches of Christ", the real person of Christ.

The person of Christ is looking down right now at our souls and waiting to hear from us in prayer.

Jesus Christ was the means of our rescue from damnation; yet he is the goal of our salvation. We long to be with Him!

Understanding and living the Gospel means we know God is holy and that we are hopeless sinners. You cannot work your way to heaven or out of these human conditions. The Gospel understands that Christ died and rose again for sinners and that this great salvation is enjoyed by faith in Christ and our longing to be with him in eternity. That should impact your daily thinking and actions.

Our culture and spiritual forces have distracted the faithful from Christ and the Gospel. We must disengage from the culture NOW.

Ephesians 3:18-19 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


Jonathan Edwards said it best in his seventh resolution: “Resolved, never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if it were the last hour of my life.”
