Prayer is Central to Your Faith: How Prayerlessness Makes us Weak & Ineffective

Updated: Sep 4, 2021

Pray without Ceasing

We make excuses why we can't pray, all of us have done it and do it, too busy, too tired etc.

Just as we will one day stand before our Lord with no excuses we are before him now, in this life with no excuses.

2 Timothy 3:5

5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Why? Many reasons but mainly we think that given enough time, money and energy we can resolve life's problems on our own. True? I can do this, I don't need God or anyone else. Deep Down even though we wont admit it we think we don't need to pray.

Yet there are many things (i.e. all things) in our lives that require the Lords involvement. And our perplexed, depressed and frustrated lives are witness to this reality. As Christians that have been bombarded with secular culture we lean to easy, comfort and avoid hard, difficult.

The reality all of us ignore is we are DESPERATE in our lives. Desperate for Christ and the indwelling action of The Person of the Holy Spirit. Pride tells us otherwise.

No amount of knowledge or wisdom will fill that void.

Jeremiah 17:5

Thus says the LORD:

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man

and makes flesh his strength,

whose heart turns away from the LORD.

Yes God wants us to be students of his Holy Word but if we rely solely on that and have no relationship with him be become the "religious officials" in our time. Remember Knowledge alone puffs up - pride takes over. At the end of the day it's God's grace that matters and not what or who we know.

You and I are more desperate than we know and if we took some time to look reflectively at our lives we would see that. So pray and pray some more! Pray desperately to our Lord for help, for whatever in your life confounds you. PRAY FOR GOD AND THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP YOU WORK ON YOUR MOST STUBBORN BESETTING SINS!

Prayerlessness accounts for much of our frustration in the Christian life.

Prayer is our only hope in this life!
