A Very Present Help | April 13, 2026 - Carter Conlon
"I want to share something deeply personal with you today - the one time in my 48 years of ministry that I audibly heard heaven speak to me. It wasn't during a mountaintop moment or while I was feeling spiritual. It happened when I was completely exhausted, standing in front of my congregation on a Sunday morning, unable to even sing or lift my hands in worship.
I was a young pastor doing everything - preaching, fixing fences, maintaining the cemetery, visiting people, feeding the hungry. I had finally reached that breaking point where I thought "I'm done. I can't do this anymore." Maybe you know that feeling. Maybe you're there right now with work, family, or just life in general - waking up each morning wondering if you can face another day.
It was in that moment of complete exhaustion that someone whispered audibly in my ear: "I've come to help you." Those five words changed everything. I got strength I can't explain, preached that morning, and never looked back. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble - not distant, not a million miles away, but right here when we need Him most.
