'Biologically, You Cannot Change Your Sex': Miriam Cates Questions Inappropriate Teaching in Schools

Video from Christian Concern

"Conservative MP Miriam Cates questions the Minister for Schools, Robin Walker, on the content that schools have been using in RSE, some of which encourages young children to 'change gender'. Critiquing the current curriculum, the MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge said: "Biologically, you cannot change your sex. "In every cell of your body, you have sex chromosomes, you cannot change them, that is a biological fact. "So, you can tell children that some people believe that you can have a different gender to the sex you are born but other people, and science, say this. You can't teach it as fact." from video introduction.

Ok so we have been denying reality and rebelling against God at every turn.

One of the ways we have fallen into the evil of this world is the fallacy tht you can change your sex. Reality Check- no you cant. You can have pieces parts removed, pump your self up with hormones etc. but you can't really change your sex.

Our popular culture displays the underlying confusion about what it means to live in this world as male and female. Kids today are drowning in a gender-bending popular culture.

Do we as Christians have the biblical/theological wherewithal to speak truth into this morally confounding situation in our culture? Do we know what the Bible teaches about gender and sex, human sexuality in general?

Gen. 1:27

27 So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

This is the template. Everything else we do is folly and sin. Now having said that we must discuss these subjects in love and not disown, vilify or mistreat people. Biblical literacy has declined in our day and with it the Bible’s cultural influence on sexual standards. At one time there was broad cultural consensus about gender norms/sexual morality, that’s no longer the case in our contemporary West, now anything goes.

Our churches have become lukewarm and weak. Cultural pressure has influenced many pastors, teachers and congregations who simply don’t want to push back in a countercultural way They are content to remain silent about God’s teaching concerning these sins in the larger culture war. Many if not most Christians have little understanding of what it means to be created in the image of God as male and female.

Our hope is always in our Lord, in our prayers, confessions and repentance. Until we prioritize spiritual formation and maturity we continue to be submerged in the sinking culture.
