Jesus changed gears right in the middle of the Sermon on the Mount and gave a command for His followers through all the ages. In just 73 Greek words He lays down a pattern for daily renewing our walk with the Lord.
I believe that the simple, well-known words of a section of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 constitute the secret ingredient that the Spirit of God used to launch the mission that continues to this day.
