E.T., Blade Runner, Dune—Cinema’s Most Iconic Props Now at Sotheby’s | Cassandra Explains It All

"What if the creatures on screen were more real than we imagined? In this episode of Cassandra Explains It All, Sotheby’s Vice Chairman and Global Head of Science & Popular Culture, Cassandra Hatton, walks us through just a few iconic lots from the upcoming auction “There Are Such Things: 20th Century Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy on Screen,” a rare capsule collection that brings together some of cinema’s most mythic—and misunderstood—icons.

From screen-used props in E.T. and Blade Runner to original Universal Horror posters and rare production art from Dune and Total Recall, this is a curated archive of 20th-century imagination. Discover the untold stories behind the objects that shaped generations of fantasy, horror, and science fiction—and learn how they continue to haunt and inspire collectors today.

"There Are Such Things" is a celebration of cinema’s exploration of what might be possible—in our world, and the next. The exhibition will be free and open to the public at Sotheby's New York from Saturday, 29 March to Thursday, 3 April at 2:00PM ET, with the online auction set to close on Thursday, 3 April." from the video introduction
