Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) : is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida designed the face. Built between 1922 - 1931, the statue is 98 ft. high, sites on a 26 ft. pedestal. The arms stretch to 92 ft. wide.



A New Christ the Redeemer:


A huge statue of Jesus Christ is under construction in the small town of Encantado, in southern brazil, and it will be even taller than its iconic counterpart in Rio de Janeiro.
