Flowing Wood | Award-Winning Short Documentary
"Flowing Wood gives us a glimpse into the life of Dean Gregory, a solo traveller, surfer, and artist from Northwest Australia.
Dean creates striking aerial seascapes on weathered slabs of wood, using materials gathered from the beaches he visits. As he moves along the coast, his process becomes a form of meditation shaped by nature, solitude, and time spent alone with the elements.
After losing a close friend to a shark attack, Dean turned to art as a way of processing grief. The act of creating became therapy. A space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. As raw timber transforms into expansive depictions of the ocean, Flowing Wood captures the beauty of his process, the challenges of working outdoors, and the deep emotional connection between art, place, and memory.
This film was made slowly and intentionally with presence. If you’re a filmmaker, artist, or someone drawn to a quieter, more intentional way of living, this film is for you." from the video introduction
