Homeward Bound But Not Yet Home!

Many a time have we all longed to return to home!

Homeward bound!

Yet once there we realize that you cannot really go home again.

Why?

Because time moves forward and in God's grace we live and change.

The people we leave behind also change or die.

In our short lives the only person that remains the same is Christ Jesus.

Memories serve us well for what they are worth for they too are sometimes lost to time.

We cannot find lasting comfort in the past but only in the future with Christ.

In the clips below we find the Hobbits returning to Hobbiton only to discover that they are not the same, they cannot be who and what they were before.

And also Benjamin Button returning home discovers that "What has changed is you."

What we seek cannot be found in us or in the world around us. Our constant searching, our dissatisfaction, our looking for greener pastures is a feature of our lives while on this earth.

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Collossians 3:1-3

“The only constant is change.”

Unbidden change leaves us reeling, in panic, disoriented. Even planned change can plunge us into dispair. The things we pray for can also show us just how unprepared we are, and how fragile our sense of stability and focus really is.

Is our identity is found in circumstances, our job, our marriages, our kids or a lack of any of theses things? Only when our circumstances change do our reactions tell us where we stand. Are we only of this world, carried by the everchanging winds. Are we abiding in Christ, who sits at God’s right hand in heaven with eternal security?

Ultimately change is used to change each of us through varied situations and circumstances to be more like his Son. It is a gift!

At all times Christ is within us, the hope of glory, He is present with us in every circumstance and every change of life.
