How Do I Know I am Truly a Christian When I Constantly Struggle with Sin?

Updated: Oct 8, 2022

As we struggle daily with sin, our assurance of salvation can waver, and we might even question if we truly belong to the Lord. From an online youth conference hosted by Reformation Bible College, Stephen Nichols reminds us where to find true assurance in the fight for faith.

All of us are tempted, tried, and sometimes failing when it comes to sin in our lives. As soon as we are able we should confess to God our sins. Our repentance, our change in behavior is when we agree with God that our sin is wicked and flee to the only one who can do us helpless sinners any good. There is no sense in putting it off or groveling but instead run immediately to the Savior who “came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15)?

God is able to keep you from stumbling when you look constantly to him for strength in the face of temptation. When you stumble, he is able to keep your stumbling as he will “present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy” (Jude 24).

Christ is more than ready to forgive your sin so when you fall fall on him.
