Inside a Remarkable Paris Textile Exhibition (on until July 2026)
"The Halle Saint-Pierre in Paris is currently showing L'Étoffe des rêves (The Stuff of Dreams) — a textile exhibition featuring 36 artists working across needlepoint, collage, tapestry, embroidery and more. It runs until 31 July 2026.
36 artists is overwhelming, so I've picked three whose work stopped me: Lili Simon, who asks what women are really thinking while they stitch; Aurélia Jaubert, who turns discarded needlepoints into room-sized tapestries on a medieval scale; and Shao Liyu Chen, who rebuilds a vanished Beijing from tiny scraps of fabric.
All three use repurposed, rescued, or overlooked materials. All three are asking questions about women's labour, memory, and what making is actually for.
Halle Saint-Pierre, 2 rue Ronsard, Paris 18th. Open Monday–Friday 11am–6pm, Saturday 11am–7pm, Sunday 12pm–6pm.' from the video introduction
