May the Lord Find Us Faithful in Today's Chaos

"Providence, unerring providence, governs all events. And grace, unchangeable grace, is faithful to its purpose. May we live by faith on both." Augustus Toplady

May the Lord Find Us Faithful in Today's Chaos

The events of yesterday, the chaos of an attempted assassination have brought many to hand wringing and distress!

As Americans and as Christians we must decry such violence and work toward a more peaceful resolution to our disagreements.

The evil opinions of many in recent months that sometimes people must be killed are not rooted in the teachings of our Lord.

The fact that sometimes we as Christians must resist and fight the spirit of this age is not a call to meet evil with more evil.

The Church in America, meaning you and I have settled for the world's solutions instead of the Holy solutions God provides for us to claim!

As pragmatic, efficient, scientific people we think that our success in life comes from trying harder and not trusting God and each other.

We have fallen for the fear of man over the fear of God and we with arrogance assume a mere man can save our nation.

The cycles of sin and evil keep repeating themselves in human history and America is no exception. The evils of abortion, transgenderism, and the sexual revolution in general are but one facet of our depravity. The extremes people are now pursuing either on the so-called left or right are proving to be either the left hand or the right hand of God's judgment on our nation and all of us.

Our pride is evident in our deep desire to win and not to lose. And with pride, as God's word has shown us will lead to our downfall.

As the church declines we seek to regain our influence in ungodly ways.

What the church needs now in terms of doctrines and practices is the same that the early church needed to thrive. We are not more clever than they! Obedience not outcomes is our call today, faithfulness instead of fruit. Without fail, we must continue to know Christ, repent, pray, read scripture, and worship. If the world around us falters and it will we must love one another and walk by faith, not by sight.

The sights we have before us today in America are fleeting.

So we must wait, we must pray and give thanks in all circumstances, not being anxious about what tomorrow will bring.
