Our Lord in Session - How Christ is Deeply Involved in Your Life & The World
We often tend to thing of our Lord in abstract terms.
Since we don't see him in front of us, literally, and if we don't have a spiritual relationship with Him, Christ becomes a distant figure.
All Christians struggle with knowing God and finding Him in Christ.
We also are unaware of what our Lord is actually doing in Heaven as we speak.
Christ's resurrection and ascension led to His exaltation at the Right Hand of God the Father.
That means Christ ascended to heaven and took His position of authority at the Right Hand of God the Father. Soon after The Person of The Holy Spirit descended to indwell all of us so we can apply the salvation purchased by Christ to our lives.
Our Lord is not resting at the Right Hand of God the Father. He is not on vacation.
Christ is at work speaking for us, in defense of us to God the Father. Day in and day out Christ hears our prayers and sees our sins. Our mental thoughts and the condition of our souls, our besetting sins and depravity along with our Christ-like thinking and doing are known by Him without end.
The reality of our broken world WILL be changed (Romans 8:18-26, Col. 1:20). Though we sin and we suffer God's plan will end all suffering and renew our broken world. All things will be set right when Christ returns (Acts 17:31).
Hebrews 1:3
3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Christ has a threefold office as Prophet, Priest, and King!
Our Lord brings us to Himself through His Holy Word and also continues to subdue evil in all its forms.
1 Cor. 15:25
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
Rev. 11:15
5 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”
Christs Intercession
Hebrews 7:25
25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
Christ is alive and fully human before God the Father! His presence beside God the Father assures our position in eternity.
Hebrews 9:12,24
12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
24 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
We know from scripture that the Accuser is ever before God. He makes accusations before God about all of us. What we say, think and do, our sinful thoughts and deeds do not go unnoticed.
Zech. 3:2
2 And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, O Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?”
But do not think this is a competition between the Son and the Father for the reality is the Trinity is united in planning, purchasing, and applying our redemption. Christ regularly puts down all external accusations against us, His people by casting Satan or any accuser out of his place, who “accused them before God day and night” (Rev. 12:10).
No one can bring a charge against you and I, God’s elect if Christ is interceding for us (Rom. 8:33–34). The principle and reality is "If God is for us, then who can be against us"?
This is Your Reality Today in Christ!
Your Lord is in Session right now in Heaven.
He knows you! He hears you!
Despite our daily failings we can have peace and quiet of our conscience.
Romans 5:1-2
5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Hebrews 10:22
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
The daily reality is Christ intercedes for us so that God the father accepts our service in life as well as our humanity.
1 Peter 2:5
5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
So today be aware of what your Lord does for you, for us all!
Worship and praise God as Christ works in His session & intercession on your behalf.
Remember Christ sits at the Father’s right hand to secure a place for us, and He intercedes for us to make sure that we get there safely. He will one day return in glory to receive us to Himself and to judge the world.
