Peder Severin Krøyer: The Mozart of Color
"Peder Severin Krøyer — one of Denmark’s greatest painters and a leading force of the Skagen School. Rising from hardship, Krøyer’s genius was clear by age nine. Supported by his devoted aunt and uncle, he went on to study art and, by nineteen, was already painting portraits for patrons. Backed by art collector Heinrich Hirschsprung, Krøyer created radiant masterpieces of his friends, the Skagen artists, and his beloved Marie Krøyer, whom he met in Paris. His shimmering light, poetic realism, and emotional depth still inspire us today." from the video introduction
