Roy Henry Vickers | Locals in The Great Wilderness

Roy Henry Vickers | Locals in The Great Wilderness

"Known for his colourful prints, stand-out sculptures and distinct carvings, Roy has travelled the globe sharing his culture and inspiring generations of Indigenous artists. But, he always returns to his home in Gitxsan Territory in northern British Columbia, where he lives beside the Skeena River in the Kispiox Valley near the towns of Smithers and New Hazelton. In a walk down memory lane, he tours ‘Ksan Historical Village and Museum, a place that helped nurture his talent and still acts as his creative homebase today.

As he dips his toes in the river, Roy reflects on how the vibrant Indigenous culture and vast landscapes of the The Great Wilderness feed his creativity and inspire his storytelling; a gift that he continues to share with the world." from the video introduction
