How Does "The Phenomenon" Fit Into the Christian Worldview?

Narrow Minded or Open Minded?

The linchpin of history was the birth, death and resurrection of Christ. He stands now at the right hand of God the Father. That is the most important event in the history of mankind not the revealing of another entity besides man.

If you look closely you will see that the hope of "Aliens" is as a savior of mankind.

The fact is we already have a Savior!

This subject is vast, not understood, subject to wishful thinking, fantasy and is swimming in theories.

So before you read this I ask you to first be skeptical and be open minded!

As Christian's we believe that God the Father is providential in all aspects of His creation. Although as humans with a sinful nature we are also prone to the same "Bias" as anyone else in regards to many subjects or areas of life.

We should struggle then to be as "objective" as possible understanding there are many things in creation we will never understand.

Opinions offered as fact is just about all we have in our recognition of "The Phenomenon". There is without doubt overwhelming indirect evidence that some form or forms of entities exist and are currently interacting in in many cases harming people.

What is loosely often called "The Phenomenon" as an umbrella term for all the many aspects of what people have seen and experienced is wrought with ambiguity.

Since an also overwhelming amount of evidence indicates that governments (private corporations etc.) around the world including our own have physical evidence of and much data about all of this and no doubt for a variety of reasons are not forthcoming.

As Christians we know that "Satan" is "The god of this world".

The phrase “god of this world” tells us that Satan is the major influence on the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and viewpoints of the majority of people in our world. His influence also has infiltrated the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce. There are world wide thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions that are under his control and have developed from his lies and deceptions.

Aliens and unknown entities exist within this world and perhaps several others which makes them subject to the influence of Satan just like the rest of us.

I say again although many UFO/Alien devotees scoff at this yet they will willingly believe in unknown and mostly unseen entities that are doing harm to people. Time for you to be skeptical and yet open minded. I hope this article will give you some food for thought!

Aliens and Demons: Evidence of an Unseen Realm - Documentary Film Featuring Dr. Michael S. Heiser

"Dr. Michael S. Heiser explores the unexpected intersection between UFOs, alien abductions, the world of angels and demons, and the ancient texts that speak of them." from video introduction

One of my main objectives besides getting The Gospel of Jesus Christ out into the world is to consider other opinions, allow for discussion and allow for room to extrapolate that information, opinions etc. in many subjects. Our world is a world rich in possibilities. All of us are entitled to an opinion or point of view, even a worldview. That includes you and I.

My experience in life and walk with Christ has lead me to believe that God's creation is filled with far more than we can see or comprehend. And yes God warns us of things both seen & unseen we should stay away from at the peril of our souls and lives.

A cursory look at "The Phenomenon" produces a intent across time that is not in the best interests of mankind. The data is there in the form of reports going back centuries if not longer ( Wonders in the Sky: Unexplained Aerial Objects from Antiquity to Modern Times by Vallee/Aubeck ) peoples lives have been affected and seemingly their health ruined.

So this cannot be easily dismissed yet not completely proven either.

Again be skeptical, be open minded.

Why the Bible is a Guide to "The Phenomenon"

The Bible has long been an excellent source of depicting entities and other dimensions. We just don't use those words. Angels in fact is a job description. There is actually a lot of information about these entities including Jewish and extra-biblical sources ( The Book of Enoch for example), still we know very little. For a more comprehensive overview of other dimensions and the creatures in them see the video below from Dr. Michael Heiser.

Dr. Heiser refers to the several different rebellions that have occurred against God and mankind's rebellion is but one.

The entities are never named as Angels but are often called gods. This is further explained in terms of the rebellion of Genesis 6 in which entities came down in rebellion (came down on Mount Hermon) and subsequently bred with human females producing hybred super humans that were evil and destructive. This is the much debated "Nephilim". Read this excellent article about the Nephilim: Who / what were the Nephilim? (link) The title to this chapter depending on the translation was The Corruption of Mankind.

Now if we take this at face value we have a lot of similarities between what the Bible describes and what is supposedly happening in some abductions by aliens. You can choose to disregard the bible if you wish yet as I have pointed out as a source of information it is wide in scope and very descriptive.

"The Phenomenon" is not benign! It is a complete unknown! Do not seek it out!

Biblically Accurate Angels

Video from Jacob Coyne

"This is what Biblically Accurate Angels look like according to the Bible." from video introduction

Angels are spiritual beings or entities and obviously can take on different forms. Scripture tells us that at times they can and do appear as humans. Scripture also provides some bizarre imagery (see video above) as well for these beings which makes a definitive description difficult. Were we to actually see one of the beings in this video we would be horrified.

The Unseen Realm - Documentary Film with Dr. Michael S. Heiser

"Rebellion in God’s council. Spirits of dead giants. Rival gods creating chaos.

These are the things of myth and fairy tales, right? The Bible tells a different story. In the documentary The Unseen Realm, a light is cast on the strange and enigmatic plane of the supernatural that lies within the pages of Scripture. And what we discover are two distinct worlds—with vastly different inhabitants—created and ruled by one loving triune God." Featuring Corbin Bernsen. Directed by Reuben Evans Produced by Reuben Evans, Bob Pritchett, Brian Russell, Jarred Coates, Corbin Bernsen" from video introduction

How a Christian "Should Not" Approach "The Phenomenon"

My two cents on this is found in the video below that was taped during the pandemic back in 2020.

The speaker is Dr. Danny Faulkner from Answers in Genesis. Dr. Faulkner has excellent credentials and continues to be active and vocal in the Answers in Genesis organization.

If you watch the video you will find (in my opinion) that Dr. Faulkner has approached the subject with a bias. He begins by treating it as a joke much like mainstream news media generally treats the subject. He reinforces the "stigma" long imposed on people who have seen or experienced "The Phenomenon". He makes it laughable. My question would be how much did he research the data, the reports etc.? He in the end arrives at the conclusion that has been bantered about for decades that UFOS/UAPS are just mis-identified aircraft or natural phenomenon. A very weak argument with only opinion as the main source. In my opinion he does not give a Biblical Response. Listen to the video and come to your own conclusions. This is my contribution to the discussion.

How Should Christians Feel About Aliens and UFOs?

Video from Answers in Genesis

"In this presentation Dr. Faulkner gives a biblical response to questions of whether the earth has been visited by spacecraft piloted by extraterrestrials, aka UFOs, and will answer the question of how Christians should feel about this topic. Dr. Danny R. Faulkner earned graduate degrees in physics and astronomy and is distinguished professor emeritus at the University of South Carolina Lancaster, where he taught over 26 years." from video introduction

"Dr. Danny Faulkner holds an MS in physics from Clemson University, an MA and a PhD in astronomy from Indiana University, and he taught at the University of South Carolina—Lancaster for over 26 years. He has published over 100 papers in various journals.

Danny works as a researcher, author, and speaker for Answers in Genesis. He also hosts Ark Encounter trips down to Red River Gorge (in eastern Kentucky), and Stargazer’s Nights (at the Johnson Observatory); he also hosts Astronomy Live programs, and “The Skies Proclaim His Handiwork” workshops at the Creation Museum.." from the website:
