Part 1: Who Is the God of the Bible? The Divine Names in the Biblical Witness | Scott Swain

According to the Belgic Confession, God reveals himself to us in two “books”: the book of nature (God’s world) and the book of Scripture (God’s written Word). The primary way God reveals himself in the book of Scripture is by proclaiming his name. In this session, we’ll consider several of the names whereby God reveals himself in the Bible. Contemplating God’s names provides a deeper understanding of his being and attributes and a firmer foundation for our faith and hope. It also helps us better appreciate the ways God reveals himself to us in Jesus Christ.

Part 2: Is Jesus the God of the Bible? High Christology in Early Christianity | Mike Kruger

There’s a long-standing scholarly debate about how early Christians viewed Jesus’s identity. Was he merely a righteous man? Was he a man “exalted” to a divine status? Or did they think he was really God in the flesh? This session will explore the Christology of the earliest Christian movement, drawing on both New Testament texts and second-century patristic sources. These historical sources indicate that the full divinity of Jesus wasn’t the creation of a fourth-century church council but a fundamental belief of Christians from the beginning." from the video introduction
