The Beauty of a Broken Will | July 4, 2025 - Carter Conlon

"Barn Again Friday! Today, I’m back in the barn with Casey and her little one, Dash—two ponies that offer a powerful picture of the Christian life.

Casey has been broken—in the best way. She’s calm, yielded, and trusting. But Dash? He’s not there yet. He resists being led, hides from my hand, and insists on his own way. As I watched him, I saw so much of our journey with God in him. We come into the kingdom full of life and potential, but often unwilling to be led. We want Jesus in our hearts, but we don’t want to let go of the reins.

Jesus showed us the way in Gethsemane: “Not my will, but Thine be done.” That’s the turning point for every believer. It’s not just the end of our rebellion—it’s the beginning of our real training. The moment we stop moving until He speaks, the moment we surrender our desires and trust His hand—that’s when He can truly begin to shape us.

I’ve been there. I had dreams of being a lawyer—dreams that returned once fear no longer ruled me. But I had to make a choice: pursue what I wanted, or follow God into the unknown. That surrender opened the door to the life I now live—a life I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Friend, maybe today you feel like Dash—uncertain, resistant, unsure of God’s intentions. Let me assure you: His hand is not for harm, but for good. Don’t settle among those who sleep—go a little farther. Yield your will, and step into the purpose God has prepared for you." from the video introduction
