The bells and bellringers of St Paul's Cathedral ring out after Sung Eucharist for Ascension Day

"Ringer cam and bell cam capture the ringers and bells in action for Sung Eucharist on Ascension Day - May 14th 2026.

The 12 change ringing bells live high in the north-west tower of St Paul’s Cathedral.

They were cast in 1878 by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough, and together form the second largest ring of 12 bells in the world by total weight.

Change ringing takes years to master. It is a complex skill, and the bells at St Paul’s are especially demanding.

Each bell is numbered from 1 to 12, and is usually rung by one ringer. A “change” is a sequence in which each bell sounds once. The order then changes, creating new patterns of sound.

The bells are tuned to B flat. The smallest, known as the treble, weighs just over 8 cwt. The largest, the tenor, weighs more than three tons." from the video introduction
