The Reality of Angelic Beings in Your Life Today

In our culture and world today, Science has become Scientism for many people including many Christians. An example of humans worshipping what was created and not the creator. Although Science as a discipline has allowed for great and not so great advancements in our lives over time it also like everything been corrupted by our sin.

The internet is the perfect example. Realize that technology is purely a human invention (allowed by God) for the betterment of humanity. Also realize in humanities past when we became to prideful with our inventions and thoughts (Pre-flood, Babel etc.) God came in a humbled us and yes killed us. You see our creator has the rights over our living and our death. He gives life and he takes life. There’s no fair or unfair, that has nothing to do with it. God’s perfect character, his perfect being will not allow for sin and unrighteousness.

2 Kings 19:35 tells that 185,000 Assyrian soldiers were killed by an angel (The Angel of the Lord) that night and Sennacherib returned to Nineveh. He was later killed by his own sons. His youngest son, Esarhaddon, succeeded him as king of Assyria.

In the time of Joshua for example, the commander of the heavenly host (army) personally appeared to Joshua and spoke with him (Joshua 5:13-15). In the time of King Hezekiah of Judah, a single angel was sent by God to slay 185,000 Assyrian soldiers who were besieging Jerusalem (Isaiah 37:35-36)

The bible tells us about how the spiritual world and our physical world overlap. We are profoundly physical in perception even though we are spirits with a body resist this reality. Yet we see it all the time. For one we could see if we so chose real examples of Demon possession of people and we can also see examples of miracles and other supernatural events in lives and in history. But yes, the caveat is the powers and principalities both demonic and human deny and dismiss this reality.

The book of Job describes the angels worshiping God as He was creating the world: "Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone - while the morning stars sang together, and all the angels shouted for joy?" (Job 38:4-7).

God is not obligated to prove himself or his existence/sovereignty to any human of angelic being.

People often ask why God does not just appear to us and the simple answer is that even when the pre-incarnate Christ walked with Adam and Eve that was not enough to prevent them from rebelling. So, God’s appearing to us cynical, sinful fallen humans is not enough.

God speaks through scripture which is one way he talks to us. And God has also made it clear that Angels (messengers) serve him and us consistently.

Hebrews 1;13-14 13 And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Angels serve us, minister to us every day whether you realize it or not. Yes, an angelic being may be involved in your day today and you will not be aware. This is the reality that drives home the point that God is intimately interested in YOUR life. Do not ignore him!

Psalm 103:20-21

Bless the Lord, O you his angels,

you mighty ones who do his word,

obeying the voice of his word!

Bless the Lord, all his hosts,

his ministers, who do his will!

Angelic beings are immensely powerful creatures of light that can also manipulate it to take human form. When angels appeared to humans in the Bible, they resembled human males. In Genesis 18:1-19, for example God and two angels appeared as men and ate a meal with Abraham. Angels appear as men many times throughout the Bible (Joshua 5:13-14; Mark 16:5).

Angels also carry out God the Father’s will which involves the functioning of the world and our lives. Consider how God commands his creation as he can command the sea, and it obeys him.

Animals also do his will: he commanded a whale to swallow Jonah, Balaam’s Donkey and many more examples. We humans also do his will and of course angels. Angels exist in their great numbers and grandeur and in their obedience to call attention to the greatness of the God they serve.

And then we come to the most remarkable scripture that I want you to think about.

Matthew 18: 10 10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

In this verse Christ is referring to children and yes, all believers as having their Angels which implies, we are all assigned Angels in some way in the duration of our earthly lives. So be aware and realize that not only today and everyday Angels are near you and doing unseen things for you at God’ s bidding. They know what you do as do the Lord and the Person of the Holy Spirit.

We do not live unnoticed isolated lives as our Lord and his Angels are at work for his Saints!! Pray and speak to him he is waiting!
