Why are People So Unhappy?

Why are People So Unhappy?

In this 6-minute video, Jordan Peterson is interviewed on H3 Podcast Highlights by Ethan Klein concerning why people are so unhappy, anxious, depressed, and suicidal. Peterson has been dubbed the Father for the Fatherless.

Among other things Peterson names, the complexity of our society, how fast everything changes, and how those with the highest standard of living are the most unhappy. People are terribly busy, busy to the point of being overwhelmed and then burnt out.

People sacrifice the present for the future yet it all could go away tomorrow. It may amount to security but NOT happiness!

Clearly, people have too much to do which leads to anxiety and unhappiness.

Peterson also believes people are philosophically unstable and doubtful about the meaning of their lives.

Does life have meaning? If you are fatalistic and nihilistic you doubt life and develop existential angst.

He speaks to how life can have meaning if we look for wisdom.

Interestingly he cites diet as one of many causes of our depression and anxiety.

Are you unhappy and if so why? Do you have faith, a relationship with Christ? Or is your life a series of running from one thing to the next seeking happiness and fulfillment? No purpose in life?

None of us will find meaning, fulfillment, or happiness through our careers, our money, or our accomplishments. All of that can be gone tomorrow.

Faith alone in Christ alone is what will offer us joy and happiness in this life.

The reason that salvation is by faith alone Christ alone is because, "There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23.
