Winter Forest | Joni Eareckson Tada's Art Series

"Joni Eareckson Tada discusses her oil painting Winter Forest, a spiritually reflective work that explores both the beauty of a snowy landscape and the deeper biblical symbolism found in Isaiah 1:18: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” Created in 1998, this 14 x 18-inch framed piece evokes themes of redemption and purity through its vivid contrast of crimson and white, represented by sassy red cardinals perched along a snow-covered path.

As Joni explains, she originally titled the piece Winter Forest but now considers renaming it The Road Less Traveled for its depiction of a quiet, winding trail that beckons the viewer forward, perhaps toward God’s grace. The painting captures the quiet wonder of a cold, cloudless day, with soft lavender and orchid pink shadows giving shape to the snowy path. Detailed Douglas fir branches, heavy with snow, stretch across the canvas, inviting contemplation of God’s creation and forgiveness.

This series is intended to share hope by highlighting Joni’s rich history of spiritually themed artwork. Prints of this artwork are not currently available for purchase." from the video introduction
