Your Bloodline Has a Best Man — and It Isn't You

"My great-great-grandfather had a horse, a Bible, and a mission. Do you have one?

Every family has that one man whose stories become lore — the name that comes up at the table every time the family gathers. In mine, it's Cyrus Deaver. A horseback preacher who criss-crossed the Smoky Mountains in the 1800s, sharing the gospel when there was no truck, no paved road, no hospital waiting for him if something went wrong.

But here's the question that stopped me cold:

Am I the best man in my bloodline?

Not the richest. Not the most successful. The man. The one my son could look back on someday and say, "That's the man who changed everything."

And if the answer is no... what am I doing about it?

That question led me to three things every man worth remembering had in common — a mission, endurance, and a faith that could carry weight. And it led me to the hard part: you don't get to keep the title. You only get to borrow it. Because one day, you hand it to your son.

And if nobody ever handed it to you? Then you're the chain breaker. You start it.

Join me every morning for prayer — Holy Spirit Hit, Monday–Friday @ 7am MST.

Find Jesus. Fight culture. Spread the good news." from the video introduction
