The Roman Empire although a pagan culture for most of its lifespan was a prime example of how God gives gifts to his human family, even those who deny him. Th Romans developed technology, engineering and culture that we use today. There remain many things the Romans did we still do not understand.
God chose an era in which Rome was the dominant world culture in which to place is Son Christ Jesus. What we can see of the Ancient Empire is mostly rags and tatters yet our current technology has allowed us some extrapolation into what was. These digital models are amazing perhaps they will help you see the world our Lord grew up in.
