Julie Arthur | Making It Up North
"In this episode of Making It Up North, we visit the studio of fiber artist Julie Arthur. Since picking up the craft in 1973, Julie has evolved from a student to a master instructor, finding her home and her "people" within the vibrant North Shore arts community.
Julie takes us through her entire "seat-of-the-pants" creative process—from carding and blending custom-dyed wool to spinning highly textured yarns designed specifically for the loom. Watch as she demonstrates the intricate Clasp technique and the traditional Scandinavian Krokbragd pattern on her massive Swedish Glimåkra loom, all while drawing inspiration from the natural color palette of her Cook County surroundings." from the video introduction
