Our Hand on His Hem - All the Blessings Belong to Christ
Like the woman with the twelve-year flow of blood, no matter what we do our hand remains on the hem of Christ's garment. We suffer and we want to get closer to our Lord yet we can't.
Right now many of us are seeking while suffering and confusion.
Our seeking can turn us toward sin, as sin is often our coping mechanism for adversity.
Galatians 6:9
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up.
Our long-suffering leads us to many places. Even though we may grow weary & depressed and faint because we cannot see the road ahead we must persevere. Life is complex and how God works in the midst of it is a mystery.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
To keep our mind and body from being in the world we must work at our minds being immersed in the Gospels.
In the Christian life of the already but not yet all our best efforts are only the hand on the hem of Christ’s garment. Just as so many Biblical characters pursued Christ without end so we too must keep our focus on Christ.
There is no other way!
