The Most Important Part of Your Day is Spending Time with Your Lord - Do You?

A Daily Relationship with God

There is nothing in life more urgent than praying to our Lord and having a relationship with him.

Most of us will nod to that but very few will make the effort.

Why?

Too busy, too distracted? Prayer seems difficult? No matter the cited reason they will essentially be excuses. The question we must ask ourselves is when we do stand before the Lord and we must give an accounting of how we used the limited time He gave us what can we possibly say? Sorry Lord I had to get the yard mowed, check social media, wash cloths? Yes life goes on but if we are to have a deep and abiding relationship with our Lord we must get past excuses.

You and I are anxious, many of us very anxious about life, meeting our obligations, life's stresses, suffering and many other things. Yet, Yet...We know in our hearts the answer to our distress is found in Christ, in relationship with him and nothing else. The world, the flesh and the devil work overtime to keep us distracted and they do an excellent job.

Most Christians I know spend more time on social media than in the Bible or in prayer. There should be no surprise then when faced with a hostile culture we have nothing to say, because we just know very little about our faith and our Lord.

Christ knew this about you and I and in his Holy Word we find this example when Jesus speaks to Martha.

“Martha, Martha . . .” You hear him slowing down her down with his words. He uses his voice, to calm her, to slowly quiet the anxiety in her heart. He knows she is distracted , how her mind is racing from one worry to another, and so he helps her focus: “Martha, Martha . . .”

“You are anxious and troubled about many things,” he goes on to say, “but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41–42). Our Lord is so amazing that in two short sentences, he confronts her sinful anxiety — which is our sinful anxiety — with understanding, empathy and security.

Life is complicated, it is hard and we suffer but we are also redeemed. To know Christ requires a commitment, a tola submersion in our Lord so that you can form a relationship and be under the guidance and mercy of the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Will You commit? You commit to many other things that have NO eternal value.

NOW is the time, don't wait!!

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? . . . No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans.. Roamsn 8:35,37-39
