The Sacred 33 Candles | Holy Fire at Jesus’ Tomb

"Shalom everyone, I’m Zahi Shaked, a licensed tour guide in Israel. Welcome to one of the most comprehensive, in-depth, and spiritually powerful tours I have ever filmed. In this video, I am taking you on an exclusive journey inside the ultimate beating heart of Christendom: The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

As a tour guide, my goal is to peel back the rich layers of history, archaeology, and faith that shape this monumental complex. First built in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine and his mother, Saint Helena, and later magnificently rebuilt by the Crusaders in the 12th century, this sacred ground holds the final stations of the Cross.

In this deep dive, we do not skip a single corner. Together, we explore all the major chapels and historical sites:

🪵 Golgotha / Calvary (The Hill of Crucifixion)

We climb the steep steps to the very place where, according to Christian tradition, Jesus was crucified. We visit both the Catholic Chapel (11th Station) and the Greek Orthodox Chapel (12th Station), where the raw rock of Golgotha is visible behind protective glass. We will stand right where the Cross was raised and feel the overwhelming energy that captivates millions of pilgrims, especially during Holy Week.

🩸 The Chapel of Adam

Directly beneath Calvary, we return to the ground floor to visit the Chapel of Adam. Here, we observe the dramatic vertical crack in the rock of Golgotha. Tradition holds that when Jesus died, his blood flowed down through this rift to touch the skull of Adam buried below, symbolizing ultimate redemption—a fascinating theological and architectural marvel.

🧴 The Stone of Anointing

Right inside the main entrance lies the fragrant Stone of Anointing. This is where Jesus’ body was lovingly laid after being taken down from the Cross, to be prepared for burial with oils and spices. We will watch pilgrims from every corner of the earth pouring their tears and prayers onto this sacred stone, backed by a breathtaking mosaic depicting the emotional scene.

🕌 The Anastasis Rotunda & The Edicule (The Empty Tomb)

We step beneath the massive, towering dome of the Rotunda to reach the Edicule—the monumental shrine enclosing the Tomb of Jesus. We will explore the Chapel of the Angel and look inside the burial chamber from which Jesus resurrected, a place of profound hope and faith.

🏛️ The Catholicon & The Chapel of St. Helena

After crossing the grand central nave (the Greek Orthodox Catholicon), we descend 29 steps into the beautiful Armenian Chapel dedicated to Saint Helena. From there, we go even deeper into the subterranean Quarry to find the Chapel of the Invention of the Cross, the historic spot where Helena discovered the True Cross.

⛓️ The Prison of Christ & Ambulatory Chapels

Our tour continues around the back of the altar to the Prison of Christ, where Jesus was traditionally held before the crucifixion. We also stop at the unique side chapels that guard centuries of history: the Chapel of St. Longinus, the Chapel of the Division of the Robes, and the Chapel of the Derision (Flaggelation).

Join me, Zahi Shaked, for an unforgettable journey through the most sacred walls on Earth." from the video introduction
