The State of the Union - Victor Davis Hanson

Video from John Anderson

"John is joined again by author and historian Victor Davis Hanson to review the current state of the union of American states as they approach the midterm elections. Politics in America is broken, and the country is more divided across political and ideological lines than it has ever been. Where is the next Lincoln to lead them out of the malaise? Victor Davis Hanson offers his expert insight into these questions as they discuss political strategy, cultural dislocation, leftist elitists and their shibboleths, the upcoming midterm elections, the legacy and future of Trumpism and much more. Victor Davis Hanson is an American classicist, military historian, columnist, and farmer. He has been a commentator on contemporary politics for the National Review and The Washington Times and is currently the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. In addition to writing hundreds of articles, book reviews and newspaper editorials, Hanson is also the author of twenty-four books and hosts a regular podcast series, 'The Victor Davis Hanson Show'. Hanson was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2007 by President George W. Bush, and was a presidential appointee in 2007-08 on the American Battle Monuments Commission. His latest book, The Dying Citizen, was published in October 2021. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:39 Introduction 1:38 Strategies of the Republican Party 8:53 Trumpism and the margin for error 19:15 Attitudes of the left 26:54 The elite and reality 34:10 The irony of the left 42:32 Liberal global order 48:49 Conclusion " from video introduction
