Jesus Our Only Hope!
Our tendency in our sin to think we are smart enough and wise enough to surmount life's adversities without God plagues us all.
Many Christians get up every morning not acknowledging their Lord, not confessing their sins nor repenting of them. No worship, nothing. Just as the stiff necked people of ancient Israel praised God one minute and cursed him the next we do the same thing.
In his book The Gospel According to Satan author Jared C. Wilson reminds us, “When you get to the end of your rope, there is Jesus”.
Paul said the same thing in 2 Corinthians 1:8-9
8 We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed—beyond our strength—so that we even despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not …
A fact of our sinful natures and broken world is we will not grow in God's grace without severe adversity, we are to proud.
The key to your spiritual life is not in how clever you are or how much stamina YOU have its in Christ and Christ alone. What does that look like? Its a relationship, a humbling of ones arrogance to Christ. Pray, confess, repent and repeat, actually address your Lord as a person because he is a person.
He never forgets you, don't forget HIM!
